At just over seven minutes Hey Jude was The Beatles' longest single. Released on 30 August 1968 it was the first single on the Beatles own Apple label. It went on to become their most successful single, selling over five million copies by the end of the year. It topped the charts both in the UK and US (No.1 for nine weeks) selling more than eight million copies around the world.
